Live music is a big part of life in Alpharetta—from huge concerts at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre to small shows in the city’s many restaurants. Modern developments such as Avalon offer stylish contemporary living spaces with lots of shops and restaurants right on your doorstep. The city also has lots of employment opportunities since many major companies have offices here.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

North Point Mall is one of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area’s most popular retail destinations. This mall has 124 businesses, including anchor tenants Dillard’s, JCPenney, Macy’s, and Von Maur. North Point Mall also features restaurants such as California Pizza Kitchen and The Cheesecake Factory, an AMC movie theater, and dozens of fashion brands and specialty stores. Avalon offers outdoor shopping and dining around a central plaza with a fountain and a stage for events. Restaurants lining Avalon’s plaza include trendy Bocado Burger for gourmet burgers alongside other seasonal specialties. Bocado Burger also has an extensive drinks list featuring craft beer, wine, creative cocktails, and boozy milkshakes. There are many more places to shop and eat in Alpharetta’s bustling downtown district. Highlights here include contemporary twists on classic Southern comfort eats at South Main Kitchen and freshly-baked bagels at Bagel Boys Café. West of Downtown, Andy’s Frozen Custard serves delicious custard sundaes with a wide choice of toppings in a drive-thru spot on the Old Milton Parkway. Just north of Alpharetta, Scottsdale Farms has a garden center and a café serving seasonal fare made with ingredients grown on its 65-acre working farm.

Things to Do

Alpharetta’s Ameris Bank Amphitheatre is a major outdoor entertainment venue that can seat up to 12,000 attendees. The venue hosts regular themed performances from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as well as concerts from some of the biggest touring acts in the United States. Since it opened in 2008, performers at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre have included Arcade Fire, Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Eagles, Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Maroon 5, Rod Stewart, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder, and countless others. There is also frequent live entertainment at Avalon, including Punchline Comedy nights and free Friday evening concerts during the Avalon Night Live series. 30-acre Jones Bridge Park has a sand volleyball court, three soccer fields, and a scenic overlook and fishing area on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. This park also connects to trails along the riverbank. Newtown Dream Dog Park is one of the best canine recreation spots in the United States, offering separate areas for big and small dogs as well as obstacles, sprinklers, and drinking fountains.
